A day late but I wanted to get in on the Best-Dressed/Worst-Dress hoopla from Sunday night’s Golden Globes. Unfortunately, there were only two dresses that had me excited, a gazillion I thought were ‘nice’ and then a handful I thought were dreadful. Makes for picking apart these outfits really tricky! I’m going to break things up with a top five in each category and cross my fingers that the Oscars will bring more buzz

#5 – Best: Tie Between Zoe Saldana and Jennifer Garner

I *LOVE* the plum colour of this dress and also the unique tags and tassles all over. ‘A’ for one of the most original choices!

Jennifer Garner rarely disappoints me. This year was a simply classic look with a great asymmetrical neckline.

#5 – Worst: Julianne Moore

Love the actress, can’t stand the dress. Too much of a sack for me.

#4 – Best: Maggie Gyllenhaal

I wanted this dress higher on the list but I couldn’t decide who to switch with! Either way, I think Maggie is one of the most natural beauties in the industry and I was so excited when I saw this splash of colour and a dress I completely wouldn’t expect her to choose. It looked great on her!

#4 – Worst: Sophia Loren

It pains me to place a legend on this list but … um … ew. I can’t decide if the dress or rainbow glasses are worse.

#3 – Best: Sofia Vergara

Sofia gets props from me for colour, simplicity and old-school glamour. Absolutely stunning!!!

#3 – Worst: Kate Hudson

So many people went ga-ga for this one … I can’t stand it. It’s super stiff in design and pair it with those shoes? Way too much for someone who doesn’t need a lot to show off how beautiful she is.

#2 – Best: Dianna Agron

The cast of Glee is actually on my best dressed list but Dianna’s dress is the stand-out. Love the embellishments around the bust and everything else just flows beautifully. I was actually looking for something like this for my own wedding!

#2 – Worst: Drew Barrymore

Many will disagree with me but come on! Are those porcupines on her shoulder and hip?! Watch out or there may be a war of quills, Drew!!!

Now I’m switching because I want to end on a high note …

#1 – WORST: MARIAH CAREY

I honestly can’t decide on one word to describe this ‘dress’. Come on. We get it. Your chest is immaculate. Do we have to see most of it every time you walk the red carpet?!

#1 – BEST: FELICITY HUFFMAN


As soon as I saw this dress I knew it would wind up at #1. Felicity Huffman never disappoints me (I actually went back to past dresses to check!). She has such a great sense of what style SHE can pull off. This reminds me of a bit of art deco with a small pop of colour to bring it out to present day. The bling detail is STUNNING. Honestly, I’m hoping a bride of mine will choose something like this to walk down the aisle in!!!
