If you’re in Toronto (or close enough to it), please do yourself a favour and check out the .: One of a Kind Show & Sale :. If you’ve never been, the best way I can think of to explain it is a high-quality-tonnes-of-artists-better-than-craft-show. You actually don’t know what you’re going to find until you’re there. If you’re more of the un-bride mentality like myself

Today I had every intention of making an early morning post to give some great Back Friday finds. What happened? I’ve spent far too much time looking for Black Friday deals for Christmas presents. It was addictive and it doesn’t bod well for Boxing Day.

I did find a few wedding things. A somewhat okay .: dress site :. in the U.S. where you may be able to find something for yourself. I just can’t speak for the company. Hopefully one of you knows if it’s worth it!

Obviously it didn’t take me long to go to Etsy. My goodness. Major sales over there. I wasn’t going to bother posting anything about Black Friday but the great thing with Etsy (and many other places I found) is their online sales are extended through the weekend. I was drawn to the Etsy bling and thought I would share a bit with you!

More Ceremony Floral Fun

November 25, 2009

So we gave you some ideas for the ceremony flowers, but there are still other parts of the ceremony venue that can be considered. Even if you aren’t being married in a church, you may still want to decorate the ends of the chairs along the aisle:

As the official wedding season ended, my thoughts of course turn to how we can better help our brides for next year. I came up with this list and it goes a little something like this:

4. If you have a crazy colour like periwinkle at dawn (what the heck is periwinkle??? really????) tell her you want to make her life easier and go with a neutral colour like white or ivory that will compliment the colour you found from a paint swatch you found @ some designer paint boutique in San Diego where your Fiance proposed to you and can’t even find BM dresses to match but you somehow expect the decorator to find this magical colour somehow …..I’m just sayin’…..

Colour, Colour Everywhere!

November 23, 2009

The fall is a great time to admire all the beautiful colours in nature. All those great reds, gold’s, bronzes, oranges and yellows. I know this is also inspiring for weddings to add those important splashes of colour in and around your wedding.

Since I work with make-up and hair for my living I too am inspired by all the colours I see. I am also reminded about the colours I wish I had not seen.

The ceremony

The most important part of the wedding day, in that this is when you actually GET MARRIED, is also usually the shortest part of the wedding day. Depending on your venue, there are many things you can do to dress up the ceremony area, and its always nice to think of using things that can then be moved and used elsewhere for the reception to be enjoyed all day.

The most common practice is to have two large pieces, called standards, at the front of the ceremony area, creating a backdrop for you as a couple. These are usually set on pillars and while many brides go for an all white “bridal” theme, it’s a nice place to inject some colour too.

So your wedding was fantastic, you hired a great videographer who did an excellent job capturing the day and you’re anxiously waiting to see the final edited product so together, you can relive the most wonderful day of your lives.

First, your video editor wants to know what music you’d like for the montage sections of your wedding video. Suddenly, you feel immense pressure having to pick music for this important document. You’ll have to live with the decisions you make today for the rest of your lives. Maybe picking that trendy dance track will seem like a mistake five, ten, twenty, forty years down the road when you’re sharing your wedding video with your children, grandchildren, long lost aunties, and new and old friends?

Don’t stress! Here are a couple of tips to help you with your choices:
