In September, I had the honour of working for one of the sweetest, most funny, most considerate and ‘perfectionists-galore’ couples in Wil and Shaun. Our journey together began almost a year before when they already had a long list of things that were decided on and an even longer list of ideas they were ready to pounce on. I was incredibly excited to be a part of their day. Getting married at the incredible .: Palais Royale :., a grand vision of art deco all around them, a day blended with Jewish and Chinese traditions … oh, and a menu to make any person drool.

I’ll be posting more details and possibly photos of the decor as soon as I get an okay but I wanted to share what was likely the single-most incredible and fun part of the day. Wil and Shaun kept it a secret from all guests but they were crafting a very important first dance. With help from a choreographer friend … well, you have to view it for yourself. The sweetest part to me is they were still practicing in the wedding suite right before showtime … (make sure you click on the keep reading link below to view the video

December 7, 2009An Interview With Ambrosia Cakes
June 27, 2009
Hey Crystal! Welcome to the blog-side of Moments That Shine
Before I start asking questions about the wonderful cake (and more) you created for me, can you tell us a bit about .: Ambrosia Cakes :. and how you got started?
.: Ambrosia Cakes :. was established from the true love of being creative. I have always loved creative careers; photography, cooking and now baking. There was a day when I really did not know what I was going to do as a career. I believed why go to school pay ridiculous amounts of money and then leave not wanting anything to do with what you studied. So I decided that I would work and get paid to figure out what I wanted to eventually go to school for. Michael’s is one of my favourite stores. One day I was standing in the checkout and saw the Calendar showing what classes they offered. So I went over got a copy for myself and then signed up for the Wilton cake decorating classes. Loved every minute of it and noticed that I was also pretty good at it. That’s when it began. I started experimenting with recipes and using my co-workers as guinea pigs. Then the orders started coming in.
I Hope That Someone Gets My Message In A Bottle

I’m going to skip back to the shower now.
We managed to coax Reem to make the trek from Sudbury to the Toronto area with the help of many a people. The maternity pics by Jess were a perfect excuse. Of course Reem being the social butterfly she is, she had to make plans with everyone else she knew since she was going to be in the area. Chaos ensued. Her plan was to go for a spa day with all of her ladies … luckily friends and family already received the invite & knew of my plan to have them drop by my house to surprise Reem throughout the day.

When we broke the news to her the morning of the shower, she was good at not acting too disappointed to be missing out on her day of relaxation
In That Second Of A Shooting Star
June 24, 2009
Autumn and Mat’s wedding was nothing short of a page out of a fairytale. From getting married in the church at the historic .: Trafalgar Castle :. to celebrating with those they are closest to at .: Deer Creek Golf Club :., everything about the day was perfect. Even the windy, cold, gray weather didn’t dampen spirits. The day was particularly great for me as I was able to work with some vendors I love … our very own Kelly from .: Makeup In Motion :. did Autumn’s makeup
The fabulous Jenn of .: 360 Photography :. documented the day and was kind enough to share the pictures with me. In turn I’d like to share some of them with you!
I Will Love You For Miles
June 17, 2009
Looking back on my posts, I popped up some pictures I took of .: BloggerBride’s Wedding :. but I completely neglected to share some the fabulous Lindsay from .: HRM Photography :. snapped! Since it’s now been a year since that last post, I thought I would post some of my favourites.
And I Want All The World To Know
May 20, 2009
Yesterday I stopped to grab mail and was instantly blown away. I received possibly the sweetest and most heartfelt thank you card from a client. I loved it so much that I wanted to share it with all of you.
“Susan,
Where do I start? “Thank-you” is simply not enough to express my gratitude for everything you did to ensure that our wedding was everything I dreamed of. I hired you for ‘day-of’ coordination but feel like you helped me plan & execute the entire event. From your vendor suggestions to calming words, to your quick email responses and amazing organization – everything you did made you such an important & absolutely integral part of our wedding.
May You Build A Ladder To The Stars
March 13, 2009Blogging becomes difficult when you’re up to your arms in paper, ribbon, tape, etc. Oh, and when you’re doing taxes in your ’spare’ time, too.
Things are a bit easier at the moment though with Shelley’s invitation complete. She came to pick things up yesterday afternoon and seemed very happy with the result! I’d love to share a few pictures of her creation with you …
In The Name Of Love
January 21, 2009As Tarriell described below, her engagement session with .: Irina Photography :. was this past December. Since we got the story from the bride-to-be’s point of view, I wanted to get the experience from Irina and Mihkel, too. They were kind enough to sit down and go over a lot of things with us!
Susan says:
Thanks for taking the time out to sit down with me, Irina & Mihkel! After seeing Tarriell & MM’s photos, I had to get the vendor point-of-view and give you both a shout-out, too!
First question, for those who don’t know or who are maybe on the fence about it, what typically happens during an engagement session and who should get them?Mihkel says:
An engagement session is simply a portrait photo session for a couple soon to be married. Nowadays these sessions reflect the lifestyle of the couple (locations, habits, activities) and the emotions between the couple (romance, love, excitement). Irina and I would meet with the couple at a location that means something to them, it can be a coffee shop that they enjoy together, or the grounds of the University they attend or a nearby park. Sometimes we are lucky to photograph the couple in THE location where the proposal happened! Our goal is to capture the real moments, whether they be lovely or quirky. We ask the couple to be themselves, pretend we are not there and for them to ‘go about their business’ ; this allows for an honest interaction between photographer and the couple. The goal is to create a collection that reflects the true spirit of the couple’s engagement, something they can take away with them for years to come.Irina says:
These sessions are for couples who desire a collection of images that showcase them in a natural and fun way. Most couples plan to use the images during their reception, either in a custom guest book or display their collection in a slide show during the reception dinner.
Hey Love, Come and Talk to Me
November 4, 2008
At a recent wedding in August I was lucky for a couple reasons … I was asked to do all of the stationery for a great couple AND at the wedding, the lovely .: Jennifer Images :. was kind enough to take pictures of everything for me as I was supervising another party.
If you’ll indulge me for a bit, I would love to share the photos with you … some have been featured already but most are brand new!
And These Are The Moments
October 30, 2008She’s back!
Autumn_Bride is home from her fabulous honeymoon and we’ve gone over some pictures from the day … now I would love to share them with you!
Considering she was married in mid-October, the weather completely blessed her that day. Not too hot, not too cold and blue skies. Here are some of my favourite shots …
